Missed Charleston days 1 and 2? No need to worry! You can check them out here and here.
Unfortunately, Sunday was our last day in Charleston. I wish we would have had a little bit more time to explore the city more but hey, it gives Hans and I a reason to go back!
We woke up early on Sunday morning in hopes of beating the heat. We left our hotel for the battery around 8:00 and the humidity cloud was already patiently waiting for us. The battery was about 1 mile away from where we were staying which was no big deal if we walked in the shade.
Once we made it to the area, we were so happy that we decided to make a stop here! It was absolutely beautiful which seems to be an ongoing trend in Charleston. We walked along the pier looking out at boats for awhile until we decided to turn around in search of some brunch. We saw some amazing houses on the way backvThe homes were huge Southern style homes with rocking chairs, porches, blue shutters, and Grecian style pillars.
I have dreams of owning a home this beautiful one day!Once we got to King Street, the homes began to get a lot smaller and older. A lot of the homes were connected to other homes. I loved the old Southern charm feeling to them. I think the oldest historical home that we saw was built in 1692 or something crazy like that.Missed Charleston days 1 and 2? No need to worry! We also saw a lot of traffic on the bay.

After living in Europe for awhile, I had thought the US had fail to compare to the European history but little did I know that so much history and culture was waiting for me to explore only 3 hours away from Charlotte.
After house hunting, (ha, we wish!) it was time to find a brunch spot! It was my turn to choose a restaurant. Yippeee!! After burgers for breakfast on Saturday, I wanted something typical so we hit up Bruegger’s bagels. I had a PB&J bagel on whole wheat with a small iced coffeeMissed Charleston days 1 and 2? Home made bagels are so much better than the store bought kind! I was so happy to have some “Haleigh food” again.
Sadly after brunch, it was time to say goodbye to Charleston and hit the road home.Missed Charleston days 1 and 2? No need to worry! You can check them out here and here.

Sadly after brunch, it was time to say goodbye to Charleston and hit the road home.
It is crazy how clean North Carolina is compared to South Carolina. The pavement on the roads are smoother, the signs aren’t falling apart, and it is much more aesthetically pleasing all together. To me, it seems that South Carolina is pretty trashy once you get outside of Charleston and the Rock Hill/Fort Mill area. But, then again, I haven’t been to South Carolina more than a handful of times so I can’t say for sure. All I can say is that I am happy to live in North Carolina We made it home to Charlotte in the early afternoon which gave us plenty of time to unpack and run our weekly errands. Then, it was time for a snack! It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner so I made a bowl full of cottage cheese and chickpeas seasoned with salt and pepper.Missed Charleston days 1 and 2? We had a crazy storm come in during the late afternoon. It was sunny, 90 degrees all day and then suddenly the wind came in at full force and there was some crazy lightning outside our balcony. Hans managed to catch some cool photos. For dinner, I wanted something simple that would nourish my body after such a crazy weekend. I turned to these mahi mahi burgers from Trader Joe’s.
